Old House Workshop Lecture - The Life and Death of the Craftsman House
Monday, March 31, 2014
From peeling stucco, to rotting wood, to inoperable sash windows, a historic house and its maintenance and preservation issues can be overwhelming for many homeowners. While every building will undoubtedly have its own unique issues, a better understanding of the life cycle of a historic home can help homeowners understand their property’s unique needs. This lecture will introduce historic property owners to some of the preservation issues that are prevalent in Craftsmen and Bungalow style homes. Discussion will be focused on the areas that are most susceptible to decay, how to understand these issues, and the resources available to them. Ms. Uebel will also discuss methods for damage prevention as well as suitable preservation treatment options for the common issues identified.
